Funding for the following projects was agreed at a meeting of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation's Management Committee on 19th January:

 

East Lancashire Liver Diet Research Programme

Project to research whether a short term diet can effectively reduce excess fat in the liver which can pose an increased risk for liver cancer patients undergoing surgery.

Cost £20,000

 

Quiet Rooms at Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Westmorland General Hospital

Provision of private, safe and comfortable areas, away from the busy ward environment, in which clinical staff can support patients and their families at difficult times in their cancer journey.

Cost £11,300

 

Holistic Needs Assessment in Cancer Care

Initiative across all treatment sites in the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network to identify the barriers to delivering gold standard physical and psychological support to patients undergoing cancer treatment and facilitate the sharing of best practice to ensure the best care possible.  Conducted in collaboration with the University of Central Lancashire.

Cost: £23,141
