Charity Music Night Hits High Notes

Thank you to Rosemere supporter and volunteer Vicky Stott, her friend Julie and husbands Dennis and Peter for hosting a Charity Music Night at Padiham Cricket Club featuring Burnley band Badger Sett and Padiham vocalist Mike Hadfield, both of which played for free.  Her band night also had a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and friends. Guests also had the choice of either a potato pie or chicken curry supper made and donated by the cricket club’s Alan Starkie and Nicola Ramshead, who usually prepare its cricket teas.  Through donations and the raffle a wonderful £519.78 was raised!

Darwen Boutique Celebrates Birthday In Style For Rosemere

Darwen boutique Solitaire Fashions celebrated its 40th birthday in style by raising £3,000 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.  Proprietors husband and wife duo David and Jenny Grogan, who opened the business back in 1978 hosted a two-day anniversary event raising a fantastic £3,000.00 at their Bolton Road store that had professional models in “walk about” catwalk shows.  Customers were treated to free fizz and canapes. There was also a raffle and a stall selling Christmas cards and gifts. The birthday bash, sponsored by the fashion label Marble, was the second fundraising event Solitaire Fashions has hosted for Rosemere Cancer Foundation. Back in October 2016, a one day autumn/winter fashion showcase raised £556.

Janet’s Sweet Success for Rosemere

Longridge farmer’s wife turned cake maker Janet Wallbank used her baking skills to raise £1,355 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Janet, with help from daughter Harriet Sharrock, organised and hosted a coffee morning in Longridge Civic Hall at which her cakes were both served and sold from a stall in September. There was also a bottle tombola and a raffle.  In addition Longridge craftswoman, Judith Pickup, sold knitted and crocheted items to help raise £310.00 towards this fantastic total.

In conjunction with the coffee morning, Janet, whose cake-making business Janet’s Cakes is a feature of both Longridge and Clitheroe Markets, took baskets of cakes to a number of town centre businesses which sold them to boost the coffee morning’s donation.
