Rosemere's Big Walk Reaches Burnley!

After walking over 140 miles in 7 days, Rosemere's Chief Officer, Sue Thompson, finally reached the Chemotherapy Unit at Burnley General Hospital yesterday evening to a warm welcome and cold drinks courtesy of Unit staff.  She walked all the way from Barrow, stopping off at every cancer unit that comes under the Rosemere umbrella - at Kendal, Lancaster, Blackpool, Preston, Chorley, Blackburn and finally Burnley!

Accompanied for 5 of the 7 days by Consultant Oncologist, Dr Gerry Skailes, Sue was also joined along the way by family, colleagues, friends and supporters.  "It made a real difference to have people walking with us each day and their company helped a lot when the going got tough.  Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 7 days, helping us reach our goal and raise over £2,200 for the 20th Anniversary Appeal."

You can read Sue's blog from the walk Here and you can still sponsor Sue and Gerry at Or why not organise your own event for the Appeal?

Why not volunteer?

Why not volunteer?

During December Rosemere awarded it's annual 'Emily Dibben Volunteer of the Year' award at the Volunteer and Supporters' Night. It is always such a hard decision to single an individual, couple or group out for this acknowledgement, as we have so many fantastic people who go above and beyond in their efforts to support Rosemere. We are truly grateful for everything that you all do for us and couldn't do what we do, without your kind support and generosity.

Congratulations go to this year's recipients Norma Blackburn and Margaret Dunn who received their award from last year's winner Frank Dinsdale. Margaret and Norma are masters at organising fund-raising events in support of Rosemere and also attend so many Rosemere events during the year, usually running a tombola!
