Walk in the dark 2019 ***EVENT UPDATE***

Due to the outbreak, we couldn't hold our annual Walk in the Dark the way we usually would - so instead, it's going Virtual!

Our 2020 Walk in the Dark is to be POSTPONED

Due to the escalating Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sweeping across the nation, we have made the decision to postpone Walk in the Dark and are looking at alternative dates for later in the year. Rest assured, this decision wasn’t taken lightly, with the health and wellbeing of all participants being our number one priority. As government advice and guidance is changing on a daily basis and a ban on social gatherings now in force for the foreseeable future, we wanted to update you a soon as possible.

We are currently liaising with all parties involved in hosting Walk in the Dark to secure a new date, with a July 2020 date initially likely subject to government advice and guidance nearer that time. As soon as we have more information, we will be in touch to let registered walkers know the new arrangements.

In the unfortunate circumstance that you aren’t able to attend the new date once agreed, arrangements can be made for a refund on your entry fee and instructions will be provided on how to request this at that time. Alternatively, if you are unable to attend, but would like to turn your entry fee into a donation, it would much appreciated by Rosemere and make a huge difference to local cancer patients.

Booking is suspended until a new date has been decided upon. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Come and join Team Rosemere for the biggest event in our calendar! Now in its 11th year, Walk in the Dark is an exciting opportunity to join over 500 walkers trekking the 11 mile route between Chorley and Preston Hospital, helping to raise in excess of £50,000.

The success of this event wouldn’t be possible without our generous sponsors The Eric Wright Group who help cover the costs of organising this amazing event.

Dress as brightly as you like as we set off at 9pm on 25th April. (Click here to see photographs of last year's walkers).

Each walker who registers in advance will receive a t-shirt,  goodie bag and water, along with a bacon or sausage butty (or vegetarian option) at the finish line at Charters Restaurant in Preston Hospital.

Online entries close on Monday 20th April, but you can still enter on the night. The cost to enter rises to £20 pp. so register now to save money….

If you are taking part in or intend to join us for our Walk in the Dark, please beware of the following parking restrictions/arrangements at both Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley General Hospital for participants and their families.

The hospital trust recently introduced a new car parking system for both staff and visitors at Royal Preston and Chorley Hospitals. The new system uses ANPR technology and will issue a fixed penalty notice if the following instructions aren’t followed.

We have made arrangements for FREE parking at both sites using these guidelines;

Participants wishing to park at Royal Preston Hospital need to park in Car Park E which is a Staff Car Park next to the hospital entrance, opposite to St Clare’s RC Church. This is right next to where you will catch the bus service (this needs to be pre-booked) available to take you to the start point at Chorley. Parking is permitted here between the hours of 18.00 on 25th and 04.00 on 26th April.

For those being dropped off at Chorley Hospital, please park in Car Park K (visitors car park). Parking will be permitted here between 18.00 and Midnight on 25th April. If you have friends and family coming to support you on the night, please make them aware of these arrangements.

Both of these car parks are free to access between these times and can also be accessed multiple times, as long as it is not before or after the permitted times above

Click for a map of Royal Preston Hospital or of  Chorley General Hospital to help you locate the two car parks.

Thank you once again for your support of Rosemere. We look forward to seeing you and your fellow walkers on Saturday 25th April. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01772 522913.
