Walk the Lights 2020
- Type Key Rosemere Event
- Start 16 Oct 2020 00:00
- End 01 Nov 2020 23:55
For almost a decade, every Autumn, we have held our Walk the Lights event - a fun sponsored stroll down the iconic Blackpool Illuminations, to raise funds to support local cancer care.
This year, due to the outbreak, we can't host our normal mass participation event - however, we would love you to take on the five mile challenge by yourselves, in your own household or friendship bubbles!
Will you join us, between Friday 16th October and Sunday 1st November, in walking the length of the famous illuminations, from Bispham to Starr Gate?
The cost is just £5 per person, and these funds will help us support projects across Lancashire and the South Lakes for the benefit of our local cancer patients. By getting involved this year, you’ll be helping us make a huge difference.
Participants will be posted a certificate for their involvement when the challenge has ended (if they want one) and we would love it if you or your children could use your part in the five mile challenge to raise funds for Rosemere through sponsorship. The easiest way to do this is via an online donation site like Just Giving, but you can also download a printable sponsor form from here.
To see the switch on times for the illuminations on your chosen date, or any travel advice, please see the Visit Blackpool website.
There is plenty on-street car parking available near the start of the walk, at Bispham, or the end, at Starr Gate. Many of our walkers prefer to park at Bispham and get the tram back when they've finished the walk, or park at Starr Gate and get the tram to the start line - although if you wanted to increase your challenge and make it a ten mile there-and-back walk, be our guest!
We hope that next year we will be able to return to our usual mass walk, complete with a biscuit and a brew at the end like normal, but until then we can't wait to see photos of your own personal walks this year!
If you have any queries about the event at all, please email Digital Fundraiser Amy on firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the charity office on 01772 522 913.
