We’re so happy to welcome back our Rosemere Coffee Shop volunteers!

We're so happy to welcome back our Rosemere Coffee Shop volunteers!
The Rosemere Coffee Shop, within the Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital, has finally reopened following closure in early 2020.   We have welcomed back our wonderful volunteers with (socially distanced) open arms and they are ready and willing to get back to serving hot and cold drinks and snacks with a smile, to our patients, visitors and staff, from 10.30 until 3.30 Monday to Friday. Due to the fact that infection control policies within the hospital have had to be so rigid throughout the pandemic, and our patients (many of whom have compromised immune systems) and staff were of the utmost priority, the Coffee Shop has been closed since early 2020, even before the first official lockdown in March. We’re not completely back to normal – our volunteers are serving behind screens, the display stands are reduced, and we don’t have a full range of refreshments available yet. Teas and coffees will be served in takeaway cups, and the volunteers will be encouraging contactless payments if possible, although the shop will still accept cash too. You may also notice a slight increase in prices – just by a minimal amount – and unfortunately, at this moment in time the shop isn’t able to provide the free hot drinks for patients that we used to. However, as soon as we are able, we’ll revert back to our old ways! The shop is a vital lifeline for Rosemere – since it first opened, it has raised well over £300,000 for us, to help support world-class cancer care. So please, if you’re around, why not pop by and welcome our lovely volunteers back to their posts? The shop couldn’t have raised this incredible amount without them!
